Washed Colombian Coffee Supporting Size of Wales Charity

Find out more about this coffee and the story behind it, plus how every cup contributes to the mission of Size of Wales. Hear directly from Ruth, our Head of Coffee, as she shares her insights into the sourcing, flavour profile and purpose behind this blend. We're really proud of this coffee and what it stands for.

What makes this coffee special?

We’ve introduced a new washed Colombian coffee to our seasonal lineup, and this release stands out for more than just its flavour.

Not only does it deliver an exceptional cup, but it also supports a meaningful cause. A portion of profits from this coffee will be donated to the Size of Wales charity, which works to protect and restore tropical forests while supporting the communities who depend on them.

The idea is simple: drink good coffee, do good things.

Every cup helps support the ecosystems and communities behind coffee production, protecting the landscapes that make coffees like this possible.

This marks our second collaboration with Size of Wales through our social action programme, Ground Level. Our previous project, For the Forests, raised £3,365 with your support to help the Wampís people protect the Peruvian Amazon.

“Partnering with Size of Wales allows us to go further in supporting forest protection and tackling climate change. As two Welsh organisations, this collaboration feels especially meaningful.” Ruth, Head of Coffee.

Why we chose this washed Colombian coffee

When selecting this coffee, we looked for something that captured the feeling of the season while showcasing the best of Colombian coffee. This washed Colombia stood out for its clarity, vibrancy and balance.

“It’s super bright. You get a mouthful of juicy berries with big citrus acidity, followed by a sweet finish - like a scoop of sorbet. It’s genuinely mouth-watering. The perfect cup for spring.” Ruth, Head of Coffee.

Expect vibrant citrus acidity, layers of juicy berry sweetness, and a smooth, vanilla-like finish. It’s clean, expressive and highlights exactly why Colombian coffee is so highly regarded.

This is the kind of spring coffee that works beautifully as a filter brew, black coffee, or lighter fruit-forward espresso. At the roastery, it’s especially enjoyed as a filter coffee, where its “brightness really shines”.

Powered by women producers in Colombia

This coffee is produced exclusively by women members of the CENCOIC cooperative in Colombia’s Cauca region, highlighting the role of women coffee producers in Colombia.

Founded in 1980, CENCOIC (Central Cooperativa Indígena del Cauca) supports Indigenous communities through sustainable agriculture, cultural preservation, and inclusive governance, helping strengthen long-term economic independence.

This coffee, named Mujeres (women), is made entirely from lots produced by female farmers. Gender equity is a key focus within CENCOIC’s work, and aligns closely with values of empowerment and sustainability shared by Size of Wales.

By choosing this coffee, we’re supporting women producers at origin while also contributing to wider efforts to protect forests and strengthen communities.

Ruth explains, “The coffee in your cup exists because of the people who planted and nurtured it, the land they cared for, the climate that allowed it to thrive, and the trees that provided shade. As a coffee roaster, I play a small part at the very end of a much longer journey”.
